Minister of Music
Position Summary
The Logan Church of the Nazarene is in search of a Music Minister who will provide spiritual, musical, and organizational leadership for the music ministry of the church. The Music Minister will work closely with the Senior Pastor to plan worship services that support the church’s mission, message, and ministry direction. This position is pastoral in nature; therefore, spiritual leadership, discipleship, humility, and care for people are as important as musical and technical ability.

This is a three-quarters to full-time position requiring consistent on-site presence and active involvement in the life and ministry of the church. The Music Minister is expected to fulfill the responsibilities of the position as a primary vocational ministry role and maintain a schedule that supports worship services, rehearsals, staff responsibilities, ministry events, and other church-related activities.

Spiritual Leadership & Discipleship:
Shepherd worship and technical team members through prayer, encouragement, discipleship, accountability, and personal care. Foster a culture of ministry characterized by humility, unity, grace, and spiritual growth.
Rehearsals & Musical Preparation:
Lead effective rehearsals and provide musicians and vocalists with appropriate charts, arrangements, tracks, and other preparation materials in advance.
Worship Technology & Media:
Provide oversight and leadership for sound, presentation, livestream/video, camera, and other worship technology. Recruit and train volunteers to operate equipment confidently and troubleshoot issues.
Audio Leadership:
Maintain a working knowledge of front-of-house audio and assist with sound quality, system operation, troubleshooting, and training of sound volunteers.
Ministry Administration:
Manage worship schedules, song and media resources, music licensing, equipment needs, and worship ministry calendars.
Budget & Resources:
Assist with development and responsible management of the music ministry budget, equipment, instruments, software, licensing, and other ministry resources.
Evaluation & Improvement:
Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of the music ministry and identify opportunities to strengthen congregational engagement, volunteer development, musical quality, and technical execution.
Pastoral Ministry:
Participate as a member of the pastoral staff and assist with prayer, visitation, congregational care, teaching, preaching, weddings, funerals, or other pastoral responsibilities as requested by the Senior Pastor.

About Us
The Church of the Nazarene in Logan, West Virginia is in the middle of some of the most beautiful scenery in the country, located in the southern Appalachian Mountains. Logan is also centered in “coal country” where the mining of coal has been the prominent industry in which most families had at least one member working under ground. As the popularity of coal has died down around the world, the production of coal in our area has also, leading many families to move away from the area to find work. This exodus over the last few decades has left a void which has been filled mainly with tourism and the development of the Hatfield and McCoy Trail System which brings thousands of riders to the area every year.
As a “city” church, we are active in our community providing food and meals to the needy and homeless, partnering with the Salvation Army to provide emergency utility assistance and Christmas gifts for the children of needy families. We are also active in helping to prevent children, teens and adults from beginning to use harmful substances which could ruin their lives and the lives of their families.
We are a small church but with much potential. We have a loving, generous congregation who are faithful in support of the church and our mission around the world. We are debt-free with a multi-building campus which provides space for administrative offices, worship, religious education, fellowship, and many other events throughout the year.
We are located in Logan, West Virginia with our Sanctuary at 410 Dingess Street; our Education Building at 107 Bridge Street; our Fellowship Hall at 110 Elm Street: our Offices at 105 Bridge Street. Our mailing address is PO Box 1410, Logan, WV 25601. Our phone number is 304-752-6778.
